This Refund & Cancellation Policy governs all payments made on the Academia platform. By registering or making any payment, you agree to this policy and the platform Terms of Service.

1. General Rules

  • All refunds, where applicable, will be processed to the original payment method only.
  • Payment gateway charges, bank fees, taxes, or administrative costs may be deducted.
  • Academia reserves the right to approve or reject any refund request after verification of records.

2. Home Tutor Registration Fee

2.1 Default Rule

The one-time Home Tutor Registration Fee is non-refundable once payment is completed and the tutor profile is created or activated.

2.2 Special Exception — 3 Month Lead Guarantee

A Home Tutor may request a FULL refund of the registration fee ONLY IF the tutor receives no valid tuition lead from Academia within 3 continuous months from the profile approval date.

2.3 Definition of Valid Tuition Lead
  • A genuine student inquiry shared with the tutor via Academia.
  • Tutor is given student contact OR platform connects tutor for discussion.
2.4 Refund Will NOT Apply If:
  • Tutor ignored or rejected any provided lead.
  • Tutor did not respond to calls/messages.
  • Tutor profile incomplete or documents pending.
  • Tutor set very limited subjects, distance, or time availability.
  • Tutor entered wrong phone/email.
  • Tutor violated rules or account suspended.
  • Tutor refused demo class or negotiation.
  • Tutor unavailable when leads were shared.
2.5 Refund Request Window: Tutor must apply for refund within 15 days after the 3-month period ends. Requests after this period may be rejected.

3. Online Tutor Registration

Online tutor onboarding or registration fees are non-refundable once account access is granted.

Academia does not guarantee:

  • Number of students
  • Teaching hours
  • Income
  • Class allocation

4. Student Class / Course Payments

4.1 Before First Class

Students may request cancellation before the first scheduled class. Refund may be issued after deducting payment gateway charges, administrative fee, and taxes.

4.2 After Classes Start

Refund = Total Paid – (Classes Attended × Per-Class Fee) – Charges

No refund if:

  • 50% or more classes completed.
  • Student stops attending voluntarily.
  • Student changes mind.
  • Scheduling conflict from student side.

5. Monthly Subscription / Package Plans

  • Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable once the billing cycle begins.
  • Cancellation stops only future billing.
  • No partial month refund allowed.

6. Class Cancellation Rules

6.1 Tutor Cancels

Academia may: Reschedule class, Add wallet credit, or issue proportional refund if class cannot happen.

6.2 Student Absence

If student misses scheduled class, arrives very late, or fails to confirm timing, the class may be counted as completed. No refund required.

7. Technical Failure Policy

Refund or replacement class allowed ONLY if the failure is proven to be from Academia servers.

No refund for: Poor internet, device problem, power cut, or wrong app setup.

8. Account Suspension (Strict No Refund)

Academia may suspend accounts for fake documents, abusive behaviour, bypassing platform payment, or sharing misleading details. In such cases, NO refund will be issued.

Include: Name, Registered mobile/email, Payment receipt, Tutor/course details, and Reason.

This policy shall be governed by the laws of India. All disputes shall fall under the jurisdiction of courts in Tezpur, Assam.
